Question: In what ways do you communicate with parents about their student's progress? What role do you see
parents playing in cooperating with classroom teachers to promote success for their child?
It is crucial to have parental involvement and support in your classroom. Allowing parents to participate and collaborate in the learning environment allows for the ring of support around a child to be that much stronger. It is important to both inform them of the goings on in our classroom as a whole, and with their student's individual progress. It is also really necessary to present the parents with both positive and constructive feedback. In my classroom there are several key tools I use to communicate with parents.

- A Positive Note Home - This is something I try to do every week. At the end of the week, I pick a student or two who have had a really great week and send a little card home. Its amazing to see how a student's face lights up when they get the card and I've received a lot of great feedback from parents about how much they appreciated getting a little note of appreciation.
One of the other things I'm working towards is involving the parents in the classroom during the school day. I would love to have parent volunteers come in to help around the classroom!
